Hi everyone,

new release. It's a minor one, added rest-until-healed, key configuration, Linux-Version and monster-health descriptors.

Try it!

That would not be "o" but "0" as in "Zero". The current keyboard layout, which, upon some feedback will in a future version be customizable, is optimized to play with the left hand on the WASD-keys and the right on the Numpad. I will update the readme with the next version, though, as to include both keys for inventory. Also, before you get too frustrated: Don't fight monsters (with the possible exception of rathounds) unarmed. Running away is almost always an option. This is a game about survival, not heroism.

Happy Caving!

Traditional Roguelikes (Turn Based) / Release: Choose your own CaveVenture
« on: February 16, 2014, 11:44:01 AM »
Hi everyone, a friend and I have made a game and today is the day we finally release it to the general public: Choose your own CaveVenture.

It is a coffee-break roguelike that features no save function but can be beaten within 15 minutes or less, if one is lucky enough. The special thing about it is that it's pretending to be a text adventure (or a choose-your-own-adventure, to be more precise), having not even ASCII-graphics but simply descriptions of what's going on around you and then giving you multiple options of what to do. The cave and actual game mechanics are, however, very much in the RL tradition. Any feedback would be very much welcome.

The long-term plan is to make this game playable with mice and headphones, perhaps as a smart-phone app, so you can play without a screen and play it while driving, walking, cooking, cleaning, whatever.

So, try it out: http://madzab.itch.io/choose-your-own-caveventure

Oh, yeah, I also have thus far failed to set up a new game page in the RL wiki. If someone could give me a pointer on what to do about that, that would be great.

Thanks and have fun playing!
