Other Announcements / Re: Roguelike of the Year - getting the list sorted
« on: December 01, 2012, 02:23:26 PM »
Erotic roguelike would be aimed much more at providing player with some kind of sexual adventures than providing tactical challenges. So far, Noxico development goals confirm this.
One of the development goals is to have hostile characters switch between long and short range weapons. I monologued about it on #rgrd a good while back, at length. My point being that the balance is not shifted that far towards the sexy side.

One other goal, being playable with one hand, isn't that high a priority, and I want to do that to make the controls nice and easy, compared to Nethack for example. The other reason is... a bonus.

...and even then, the keys are user-defined.

Traditional Roguelikes (Turn Based) / Re: Noxico (Now at Alpha 0.1.14) NSFW

Hi, main and only coder here. I'd like to take this opportunity to explain a few things.

First of all, the townspeople weren't really sleeping. It was a bug in the scene system that made it always pick the first one that matched the ID, but not the filters. One of the first scenes in the list is marked as "only when the target has a 'sleeping' token", which would cause it to be skipped if they don't. But that part was broken in the initial 0.1.14 release. I've since released a few new builds, all 0.1.14, with a bunch of fixes, so now it throws away mismatched scenes as supposed, and lets you look at catgirls without crashing. Stuff like that. So you might want to redownload. Could be a fair wait until 0.1.15, after all.

In fact, the villagers couldn't actually be asleep because I had disabled the new villager task scheduler for release, and that's what would put them to sleep in the first place.

As for raping (or not) villagers in their sleep... that's certainly a possibility. One that doesn't require much code on my part. Y'see, the problem (and main reason for me being here right now) is that the game needs content. If you really want to be able to "wake villagers up with your prodding erection" or stuff like that, you'll have to write and submit it so I can put it in the game.

And since my main man ran away after promising sex toy scenes to be submitted weeks ago, I could really use one or two more writers. :(

Damn shame too, dude was a notorious overachiever... very productive. And broken promises of content assistance are what killed most of my other game projects so that kinda scares me...
