About Sun Crusher!!! It was made with the Gamemaker program, which usually creates very stable .exe's. Sorry about the crash, that's the first I've heard of it. As far as the game play there wasn't too much depth. More arcade than Roguelike really. I think it was kinda fun but there are quite a few sharp edges. Don't let the vote counts fool you, it's not even close to being on the same level as Drakefire or Cogmind or those others.

With some tweaks I think the engine has promise though, and I am thinking of basing my next 7DRL on it. It has a turnbased strategy game style turn sequence (move and shoot, pass the turn, repeat) and revolving planets. So I guess that's sort of original.

  Here is a play through:

Thank you for the link:) It definitely looks different and interesting.
Also, I really love the name- it sounds so... enthusiastic ;)

Nice list:)
I must try to play Sun Crusher again - when I tried it out the first time, it crashed, the second - it froze my computer... so I did not try it again. And here it is in top 5! Must be a good game if 19 people still remembered it after 7DRL competition... Shame Drakefire Chasm did not get many votes, I really enjoyed it.

Congratulations :) I'm a big fan of QuickHack - well, maybe not of a game (I prefer more challenging games), but of effort. Creating something simple that works is not an easy thing to do :) I'm looking forward to see your new project!

I have to say the game is pretty nice:) Not a standard roguelike indeed.

An episode of Roguelike Radio on women & roguelikes would be really interesting, provided the panel was comprised mostly women who play roguelikes.

I think it's a bad idea. A really, really bad idea. I don't think that gender is important when you talk about games. People, regardless of gender, play games because it's fun. That's your answer on why some women play roguelikes. If those people are game developers, then make roguelike radio episode inviting them because they are awesome game developers. Not because they are female. Otherwise it will probably be a discussion about stereotypes and that's not the most thrilling subject, not for a fun podcast about games, anyway.

I don't really see the reason to care that much about women who play roguelike games at all. You will never meet us in real life anyway :)

Traditional Roguelikes (Turn Based) / Re: UnBrogue (Now at v1.0 ARRP)

I also complain about lack of download link RogueBasin page of this game  :P
There may be plenty of people who read about the game there, decide to play it and then decide they are too lazy to google the game. Even if it's just a few people, for roguelike game it may be a big percent of potential audience :)

You know, I didn't really like Epilogue when I tried it for first time, but I've finally warmed to it. You're doing a great job updating it so often! Keep it up :)

I seriously don't know why the thing that it's a part of Indiegogo funding marketing bothers you... Unless someone walks everywhere you go, whispering in your ear "Donate money to Thomas Biskup ! Donate MORE money! More! More! It's not enough, more!". Hard to ignore that voice in this case, but otherwise you can enjoy free version of a game without donating anything, so it's great :)

I'm happy to see that finally bugs are fixed, I remember whining about them few years ago. And I really hope that the "real" version of ADOM 1.2.0, if it's release, would be able to compete with DCSS and other modern major roguelikes. Fixed bugs don't really convince me to play ADOM again, though - I've won it so many times that only new content would convince me to play :)

Yes, I noticed the game is weird. Sometimes in nice way, sometimes in not very nice... but overall, it's really amazing :) Thanks for the tips!

Hi,

great to see QuickHack improved :) I reviewed previous version on my website and said that the lack of saves is the biggest problem of the game, but I hope saving will be implemented soon. Glad to see I was right :) I'm looking forward to see what's next :)

Thanks for posting - because of you I have learned about the game and I must say I am stunned by how good it is. Is there any place besides elona.wikia.com where information about the game is stored? Maybe some tricks and tips for beginners? So far I got killed numerous times by monsters and once by people displeased with my ability to play piano  :)

Depends on person. Do you have someone specific in mind? If so, it is best to choose the theme of the game that this person likes (like horror, or zombie apocalypse, or fantasy, or something like that). A game with tiles would be better than pure ASCII, although some people are fascinated by the concept of graphics made only of letters and symbols..
... so, long story short, my answer is: it always depends on a person :)

Sorry, but no. JRPGs are not my thing, so I don't know... I wish you luck, though  :)
