Other Announcements / roguelike suggestions (tile-based)

Just wondering if anyone knows of any good tile-based roguelike games. If possible I'd like to find a game like ElonaRPG http://homepage3.nifty.com/rfish/index_e.html (just in case anyone hasn't played it there's a free download link there) but it's been out of construction for some years now. Big thanks in advance to any who throw suggestions at me.

This is incredibly fun and interesting. The whole "Here's a twig and a rock, now slam it together" thing really appeals to me. The lack of direction really gives you free reign of what you do which is a real bonus.

----Long(almost unnecessary) Story Warning----

The main problems i had were probably monster related. After discovering how to avoid starvation i found myself fighting bears, wolves and ,the most irritating of all, Imps. Eventually I found the best way to avoid death to imps etc. Was to build my own small island with my shovel and make it only accessible by swimming. As it turns out this is where i find he game becomes impossible to continue. Whilst i sleep on my island to avoid confrontation with whatever chased me back to it, I find that the monsters have a tendency to horde the beach and while i welcome free food the pack of imps that always seems to make it's way into the crowd prevents further resource gathering from the mainland, which if i don't manage to build the perfect setup off-land ahead of time, causes my death.

To sum that long, rant-like story up: I believe there needs to be a level cap or some manner of keeping crowds a bit thinner early on in a game. Perhaps an escalating difficulty over time? It's also possible I'm just not that good at this game.

Another thing i noticed about certain creatures, specifically rabbits, is that they are overly aggressive. While i understand that you're supposed to be in a hostile environment... Rabbits? First time I've been woken up by a vicious rabbit attack in my sleep. Perhaps they need a neutral AI or maybe you want it that way. Really not even an issue, just weird.

Overall great job though, I personally enjoy it immensely and am looking forward to the potential this holds, Thank you for sharing it.
