My suggestion is to get ahold of all the developers you can and give them access to post on the main page of this site so that it can be up to date on the releases.
-
I think that may get a bit out of control... however, I will create a sticky topic here so developers can post about their games and I will automagically post about it :)
Keep suggestions comming people!
EDIT: Later on, an individual board for announcements was created
-
Well, I suggest it because I'd really like a 'one-stop' site for all roguelike news, and the reason i say to let them post is so its very up to date and you dont have to do anything. I think if you try to do it all yourself you could end up being very busy. Theres quite a few roguelikes being worked on currently and lots of new projects being stewed up. You might end up constantly posting new stuff, or missing stuff.
For example I notice that you are doing new version posts(the first 3 posts on the main page are those) and that you have not done a post about the new stone soup crawl version.
Anyways, its all up to you of course. This is your site after all :)
-
Well, eventually I may have to count with some people to help me post about new releases. I think I can handle it for now :D
For now, if devs post about their releases on the thread I only have one place to look at and thus mantainance would be easier.
Thanks for your suggestion

Id like an easier on the eyes colour scheme. white text on black bg isnt good on my eyes. its too jarring.
-
Well, I'd like to keep black as a background... perhaps some sort of gray for the text? what RGB do you propose?
-
Is it possible to let people pick their own color schemes for background/text?
-
Yeah, I like black background. Roguelike classic. If somebody disagrees, give him a choice.
On the other hand, I find it very confusing to see where one post ends and another starts. It looks like this:
--------
SIGNATURE #1
HEADER #2
--------
POST #2
Try adding something like a big horizontal bar between sig #1 and header #2, and have a different background color for sigs and headers, so that we don't confuse them with posts. Most forums I have seen (OK I have only checked phpBB and Chaosforge) also have different colors for each second post.
And I think we will need a spoiler tag.
-
I agree with the problems seeing different posts to some extent. Where i really have that problem is when replying, cause there are no lines separating stuff. It all just runs together.
-
most forums do alternating post colours. I really think something like is needed. Makes usability increase a lot
-
I will get into fixing this tomorrow
-
I will get into fixing this tomorrow
quotes need to be boxed, with a different colour bg and text colour.
smf should have all these set by default, i'm guessing you just made everything black/white?
I'm also getting a lot of page timeouts (it probaby my works proxy/cache or something), so might not need to worry bout that too much.
-
The links in the news must be more accented. I know they are there, but every time it takes a bit of pixel hunting and mouse hovering till i find them.
-
The area to type a message is very small, is it possible to enlarge it ? It gets too small when you start quoting others, or posting some long text.
-
Two things that could be here already, but if so I don't see them.
1. Could there be a generic [ quote ] [ /quote ] button?
2. Could we have hyperlinking(and the button for it of course)?
If these are already set up, then Doh!
-
I'm really liking the more people updating the main page with links&reviews to more roguelikes. Makes this place feel a lot more active and useful :)
-
Indeed, they are doing an excellent job. Keep rocking dudes!
I have recently debated between posting news or making them happen, thus my low posting rate :)
More coming soon
-
I'm looking forward to those new metroid versions :)
-
I just re-noticed that when you put up an URL tag, the link isn't highlighted or underlined in any way on the posted message. Sometimes it might seem like someone says "check this link out", and then there's no link. You actually have to mouseover random text to find out if there are link. It'd be great if you could change the colour of the text, or make links visible in any other way!
Thanks!
-
make links visible in any other way!
Seconded!
On a similar note, it would be useful if the code tags used a monospace font.
-
Dunno if you could raise the size limit of the avatars, those are small IMO :-[
Colored links or underlined would be great too ;)
-
I will look forward to change the anchor styles.
-
normal users being able to make their own custom titles would be cool ::)
-
I dont know if this version of SMF supports custom themes, I will check too (next weekend ;))
-
I was abit wrong there :S I meant custom titles :P Making our own that take over Acolyte/ Priest and all
-
ah, well... special titles are reserved for special things for now ;)
-
Wohooooo! Focus on links yay!
-
Yeah, I had to tweak some css a bit. Also, colouring choice was hard! :D
-
It turned out alright though. I think I preferred the white, but I'm getting used to the new colour scheme!
It's great to be able to see links immediately though :D

Temple of the Roguelike
"Anything about the website goes here"
General Discussion
"Feel free to talk about anything and everything in this board"
Aren't those like same thing? I guess general discussion should be about anything like politics, my stomp box collection, religion and stuff like that.
-
^^^ I think that it would make sense for them to be separate if this board was more active, but being like this he might as well merge the website section into the general section.
-
I am an advocate of having as little subforums as possible, in this case I consider these 3 to be necessary for different things. I have changed their description so their are more specific.

On a similar note, it would be useful if the code tags used a monospace font.
Would be really great if we could get this... ::)
