Welcome to LambdaRogue: The Book of Stars patch 1.5.3! On the one hand, this patch includes lots of new eye-candy, but it also brings some new gameplay features:
Switch between offensive and defensive tactics! In defense mode, you suffer only half of the normal damage, but you also inflict only half of the normal damage. I love this small change, because it makes battles more exciting, esp. against boss monsters, and in other critical situations.
Explore new item combination and throwing effects (potions, esp.)! Beware of earthquakes!
Enjoy the visually improved field of view (FoV) and new character graphics that fit your chosen profession and your sex -- no more female enchanters that look like male soldiers ;-)
Face NPCs and gods directly, with the newly introduced character portraits!
Use your mouse to get tooltips and to select icons from the quickbar
See the changelog for all changes.
Existing save games of the 1.5 branch (1.5, 1.5.1, 1.5.1a, 1.5.2) are compatible with the new release: You can continue your current game and enjoy the new content and enhanced look.

Congratulations on the progress! Despite being a diehard ASCII fanatic, I'm definitely going to give the graphics a try, since it looks like you're putting a goodly amount of effort into them.
-
Did you know that you can play the game in ASCII, too? ;)
-
Yep, and I have been playing it in ASCII.
-
Ah, cool :-D So, then I'm glad that you even would try the graphics mode. :)
-
Congrats, though it caught me off guard. :-[ I'll bump any Lambda text needs to the top of my list as soon as I seem them in my inbox.
This is the last time I elect to not leave an available contact stream open at nigh all times! It doesn't even require extra effort. >:(

Brian, it is okay -- you're doing this proof-reading on a voluntary basis, and I'm happy that I have someone for this job at all.
So I deliberately released the patch now. Your proof-reading results will simply go into the next update :-)
