Title: Java applets in posts?
Post by: Ex on January 01, 2010, 08:47:07 PM
Is it possible to put a Java applet into a rogue temple post? I'm working on a Java applet roguelike, and it'd be nice to be able to physically include my applet in my post (naturally the applet would be hosted somewhere else). I notice there's a button for including flash animations, so perhaps there is some method for Java applets? If there isn't, then I humbly suggest this feature, though I realize that it might be totally impossible to implement. Still, it'd be cool! I could write all sorts of little applet games and post them here, which could be fun.

Why not just link to the webpage where the applet is hosted on?

Of course I could do that, but it'd be even cooler if I could put the applet in the post :)

It's not fun.

I have to agree with Krice here, people who use older java plugins (namely, anything before java 6) will have their browser freeze for a couple of seconds while the jvm boots up.

Better put your applets on an external site so that people don't just click a forum post and get an applet without expecting one.

I think I once somehow produced a BBC-coded colorful ASCII screenshot of a roguelike... (but I had no reason to post it)

Ugh, yeah I don't like the thought of having a java-applet thrown in my face when I open up a post in a forum :P
