Hello !

Although I've been around RogueTemple and RogueBasin for years, I'm new in this forum.
I'd like to show you my new free game.
It's called Witch Blast, and it's a roguelite action game, with mechanics based on The Binding of Isaac, in a more "classic" roguelike background.

It features:
I would gladly like some feedback about the difficulty, fun, gameplay, etc... and what you would like in the future versions.

Congratulations on getting a game done and out there for people to play.  And thanks for adopting the "roguelite" classification, rather than doing what a lot of others do, and glomming onto the progressively less meaningful "roguelike".  Hopefully you get some feedback.

The game is far for completed, but it's already quite fun and challenging (well, I hope so), and I won't make the confusion between roguelike and roguelite in within the Temple of Roguelike. And Witch Blast is clearly an action game, but I think roguelike players could enjoy it.

I will notify the future updates in this thread.

Both seem to be attacking in some similar directions, could well be some nifty reckonings to be had.

I didn't know "Adventure Dungeon", it's another game inspired from Binding Of Isaac, I should definitely try it, thanks for the tip !

You know, I as very skeptical about this thread of yours when I first saw it long ago, as its subject is definitely NOT my type of game. But I just gave it go after watching the game's game play movie, and man, I kept playing it and playing it. It it actually very fun and it seems to be damn well executed with the right setting of difficulty.

Great job! I seriously advise those who haven't tried it yet to play it.

Yes, I understand the game is very different of a roguelike - it's pure action, without RP - and I'm very pleased to read that some people here enjoy it.

It's difficult to tell, as the game may be too difficult for some players and too easy for others. I'm beginner in game design, and it's pretty hard to balance a game !  :P

I've released a new version of the game, focused on gameplay.
New features are particles for the player's missiles, french translation (german soon) and a "death screen" when the player die.

Love it a lot, the mouse control didn't work for me but i think it better with arrows
I didn't like the Tab bottom i think E,Q or F are better

Well, I've added the mouse control very early in the development of the game, but as it seems all the players use the keys (more reactive), I haven't maintained it. I plan to add joypad support too.

For the keys, you can remap them in the configuration menu.

There will be a new patch very soon, with improved dungeon (shadows, more details, more patterns), bug fixes and gameplay improvements.

- MOD Cooldown to pick up a potion we've dropped is now 5 seconds
- MOD Explosive barrel is now red with an explosion symbol
- MOD Some barrels are damaged at generation
- MOD "Bomberman"-type rooms have always barrels at level 4 and above now
- MOD Green blood and slime corpses have been desaturated for a better game visibility
- MOD Level up divinity effect has been changed (was too close of the divinity intervention effect)
- FIX Inputs are processed while the game window has no focus
- FIX Doors don't open when there is still spider webs in room
- FIX Spider webs slow down some spiders
- FIX Grid on walls
- FIX The player effects (poison, slow, damage up, etc...) are not saved
- FIX Bag appears only when the player has boots
- FIX No door to secret room on loaded game
- FIX Item order in the inventory
- FIX It's possible to let the player name blank
- FIX It's possible to drop potions we don't have
- FIX Closing the game in the pause screen don't save the game

Oh, it's just a coincidence!
As Witch Blast is a game with witches, bats and evil pumpkins, we've tried to have a new release just before Halloween.  :)
Afterbirth looks great too!  8)

Hi Cirrus Minor,

I just played the latest version (v0.7.5) and am really impressed!
It's when looking at your updates, how the game evolved over time!
It's already in a really solid state! I like the humor, graphics and gameplay (am also a big BoI fan)!
The speedup button is also quite cool, helps you skip boring parts like waling back-and-forth etc.
One thing quick I find a bit annoying, is when you collect an item, you get the "ho, ho, ho, ho, ho" sound.
It's quite funny, but I think about three times "ho" should be enough! ;)
Also while I like the art style, I find it sometimes a bit of a mix between pixel graphics and high res graphics,
I would decide for one way and doing it all the same way!
You could also update the screenshots in the first post of this thread, since the game looks now way more polished!
It's pretty nice of you, that the game is for free, but a really great and solid game like that, I would be more than okay paying for it,
still thought about getting it on Steam or anything like that? :)
