Hi,
it has been a few good months since IRDC 2013 in Poznan, graciously organized by Radomir Dopieralski. The time has come to decide upon IRDC 2014.
Please post your location/time suggestions below only if *YOU PERSONALLY* are willing to organize it in said locations. Don't post "would be nice if someone would do it at x", unless a specific someone already said they are committed to organizing it there.
Time should be at least a good half year or so from today, so as to give people ample time to make sure they can arrive.

EDIT:
See 3rd message on this thread, location has been chosen. vote on the date (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1fLwOcJo3DAIo6SsVau5gscLbXOdpb4H3RDixlpoPBLw/viewform)!
EDIT 2:
The date remains at 9-11 may 2014, see results below.
-
Star Sun of Solar system would be a good location.

Since I received no other suggestions, next years IRDC is coming back to Berlin and will be organized by me (JPEG of DCSS-fame graciously offering assistance). More info to be posted on http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php?title=IRDC_2014
Date is currently set to 9-11 May 2014 (Friday to Sunday). Venue in Berlin is to be announced.

See you there!

Awesome! Maybe now we can slay the original Berlin Interpretation :)
-
Oh, we already re-approved it for the next 5 years in IRDC2013 - I believe your flight was delayed when that happened.
-
Berlin, cool, I have no excuse to not show up there in May.
-
Don't forget to register in eventbrite (linked in roguebasin page) so we know how many people show up!
-
Argh. I'm out of town on the weekend of the 9th. If the date isn't set in stone, I'd vote to move it, and would definitely attend any other weekend. I'm still beating myself up over not making it the last time IRDC was held in Berlin, and it would be a real shame to miss it again :(
As always,

I've never been to Europe. Perhaps I'll have to come check it out this year.
-
Alright please vote here:

It might be time for me to put in another appearance. It'll motivate me to actually get back to working on a game just so that I have something to talk about/show!
-
While you roam in Germany you should try to find out what happened to Mario Donick. I thought about it today again and it's annoying to not know what is going on.
-
Does anyone have activities planned for Friday? Im in Berlin for the week before IRDC if anyone wants to see the sights or get a beer/currywurst.

A bunch of us are going to the Computer Games Museum at 2pm today.
-
Is there any report on how the conference went? Info on presentations, any slides, etc?
-
I also find it strange that there is no feedback from IRDC. Maybe they have created a New Berlin Interpretation which defines "roguelike" so narrowly that no roguelikes actually exist, and most of them no longer wanted to participate in empty discussions and thus left the community, while the remaining few have concentrated their efforts on creating a true roguelike.
-
Perhaps an argument about permadeath broke out and no one survived it?
-
I've been too busy to write up a full report, or to edit the Roguelike Radio ep we recorded there.
Overall it was great. Lots of cool presentations, especially Mark Johnson's Ultima Ratio Regum and Tom Ford's graph-based dungeon/quest/waypoint thing in TraumaRL. I have videos of the talks which I'll throw online... some time.
-
The videos sound really interesting, please don't make us wait for too long!
-
Both of those presentations sound awesome.

Alas, the slides don't make a lot of sense without my commentary (though I did give a talk at a game studies conference in Canada a few weeks ago on roguelikes, you can find the slides for those at http://www.ultimaratioregum.co.uk/game/?wpdmact=process&did=NDMuaG90bGluaw== (http://www.ultimaratioregum.co.uk/game/?wpdmact=process&did=NDMuaG90bGluaw==), and those make sense without my commentary). I basically talked about procedural graphic generation for the most-part, as that's probably the most iconic part of URR thus far :).
