Title: The MegamanRL/Java mystery
Post by: Samildanach on September 30, 2013, 07:38:43 PM
I hoped I wouldn't have to resort to this but after weeks of trying, here I am. How in the hell do I run MegamanRL, MetroidRL and ZeldaRL? I've trawled Google for advice and I still can't make the things actually open. It's driving me up the wall. And yes, I have the latest Java Platform SE installed and fully updated. Any ideas? I'm not a techie type of person at all. (I should note that other, non-Slash executable jar files seem to work, such as Golden Age: Endless Dungeon.)

Hi there!

Are you in windows?

Are you running the .bat files?

Try opening the shell (cmd.exe in windowzer) then change directory to where the .jar is, and then either type in the .bat name or...

java -jar megaman.jar

Hope it helps!

'Java is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file'. Argh, tech stuff!

Seems like you need to install java (http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp) ;)

I have Java  :P I've also reinstalled it in case there was something wrong with it. Doesn't make any difference.

From my experience, it sounds like you didn't add java to your PATH variable. There are instructions to do that all over the web, just look it up.

Fixed! Thanks for the suggestions, all. It took a lot of fiddling but it worked out eventually.

If anyone else has the same problem: MegamanRL and MetroidRL will only work with the 32-bit version of Java, not the 64-bit version.
