Title: Questions for IRDC on Roguelike Radio
Post by: Darren Grey on June 06, 2013, 01:52:52 AM
I'm going to try and get at least one Roguelike Radio recording at IRDC this weekend.  Any questions for the assorted devs?

Hmm, given it is a new year with things continuing to happen, what hopes and expectations do they have in terms of new advances in technology, engines, programming frameworks, etc going forward to utilize in forging the Roguelikes of tomorrow?

What they think about creating a major roguelike? Any plans doing so? Has anyone tried that?

Good calls from getter and Krice, though "major roguelike" is slightly vague, I think. Maybe rephrase as roguelikes that are big, complex, neoclassic, simulationist, or something like that? What do you think, Krice?

For my own suggestion: "Why roguelikes? So many developers seem to develop one RL after the other, instead of trying out different types of games. What makes us always come back to this venerable and slightly odd genre?" Point in case: the annual 7DRL jam.

As always,
