Technically by the definition of a roguelike, this is by far such a game.
But, i promise this, and i'll keep it short: try it and you'll drool. This game is simply a gem.

(BE SURE to download alien assault 1, not the alien assault left 2 die which is an action game.)
On short, it's a turn based hulk based game, with squads that get medals, scars, ranks throughout the mission WITH, yes this is the best part, PERMA DEATH.
(Also be sure to check the options before getting in game and choose your settings for gameplay, be sure to add rank affects shooting, meeles and CP, if it's your fancy.)
The game is punishing, and it's that sort of game that keeps making you come back to it.
Posted this here because although not part of the genre, many people will find themselves attuned to the game.
Enjoy!
And feedback is expected !

Cool, I used to have a similar JAVA game for my old phone that I absolutely loved. I wish there was an OSX version...
-
What was the name for it?
And you meant you wished to have a version for OSX for the java game?
-
I think it may have been "the official" Space Hulk mobile game.
I meant it would be cool if there was a mac version of Teardown.
-
I'm not sure, did you check their forums? There was some talk about a Mac version i think.
Anyway Alien Assault II is out there brooding. I would guess it would be a total blast + random gen levels.

Alien Assault is a pretty cool game. I believe that there are even mods that can be used to turn it back into a Space Hulk game.
But, I really don't think it qualifies as a roguelike. Much less, a Major one. The only things it has in common with roguelikes are being turn based and having tactical combat. Otherwise, it is far from being a roguelike. At least in my opinion.
I think this might be more suited for the General discussion category.

Sorry, i had a hunch i posted this in the wrong section for sure.
It's more like a very distant relative of a roguelike.
Well anyway, just wanted to give you guys a refreshment :D
