Post by: abcgi on May 09, 2007, 02:46:11 AM
CastleVaniaRL is a great fun fully playable new RL under development.

Worth checking out at:

Is discussion of Slash's games going to mover over here since this is made by him? or will it stay at his actual game site?

A hard question :)

I guess we could keep detailed discussion on the official CvRL website (like RFEs, Bug Reports, playtesting waves) but the game could be discussed here (mortems, new version announcements, etc).

I've been playing some CastlevaniaRL lately(1.25) and have been getting smashed as a soldier by the bone throwing skeletons, I just keep getting swarmed by them and shooting them with my crossbow is costing too much monies. I'm wondering which guys I can kill and make some money from?

Ranged attacks in CastlevaniaRL are particularly god-like. 100% ranged hit-rate is just insane. I have already told Santiago this, as we have talked extensively about RLs, and CvRL in particular :P

You might want to check version 1.26, it's ready for playtesting in the website, and it is slowly getting balanced.

About the money issue, I often wandered the town at night or the first area at day to get some gold for equipment, it is a fairly easy area, plus you've got the shops nearby.

I haven't registered on his site and thus couldn't download the newest test version, so I just stuck with the 1.25 version so far. When either the third playtest is released or the actual new version(which ever comes first) I'll probably download that.

The Third Playtest is released, just in case you wanna give it a go.

It's giving me the message that I don't have permission to download the the game, or any of the test versions. However I can download the 1.25 version. This is while logged in.

Yeah, you need to be a playtester to download the Test Versions...

... here you go, you are a playtester now ;)

Thanks, wow its alot different from the previous version. The leveling seems quite a bit faster. As a RFE I would like to see a option to change volume levels for sound effects and music because the music seems a bit loud for me(i have the volume so low that if i lower it anymore it muted and the music is still rather loud while the SE are just about right)

edit because I said REF instead of RFE and I was tired of looking dumb :(. Also I think I'll be able to win within the next 6 games or so with a knight :).

Yes, it is a bit troublesome to control volume in Java (I tried to implement that RFE for 1.26ptIII), but definitively needed. I will look forward to do this.
