Title: Seven Day Roguelike Challenge 2013 - Call for Dates
Post by: Darren Grey on January 23, 2013, 04:37:35 PM
Jeff Lait has posted on RGRD asking for a vote on dates for the 7DRL Challenge 2013:

Go express your opinions now!  There are additional questions on how you think announcements etc should be made this year.  In the past it's been on RGRA/RGRD, but those places are pretty dead now.

Here? Since RGRD was changed I have trouble with it.

I also visit the aggregator site
http://www.roguebase.net/

Not sure it really posts things like this though.

  I'm open to any week.

Hmm might give it a go! Sounds like fun, very very masochistic fun. (err the non sexual meaning of the word)

It's fun Munge. I've done it for 3 years in a row, been in the bottom half each time, but I have fun each time.

There is a roguelike radio episode about it that sort of lays out the pitfalls. Make something small. Cut cut cut. Focus on whatever makes your game unique. That's the wisest advice.

That episode has people that merely participate as well as people that contend for best 7DRL each year. Also I'm on it, so that makes it pretty much the best episode evar!

Yeah I have entered a few coding challenges before but this one seems extra challenging indeed.
I have found that you can never give advice on these sort of things, you learn by trying, kind of like life really.  I will give it a try ... "do or do not, there is no try."
