Are crime rates high in Poland?

With nearly one million of officials, I'd say: yes.

I'm thinking of what happened recently in Yemen. Couple of finnish tourists were kidnapped by some terrorists. It's been three weeks now and it's a miracle if they are still alive. I guess it's something that can happen in a place like Yemen. Or Poland. It's funny how dangerous it's elsewhere than Finland. But then again we are higher beings.

Please come to IRDC 2013, Krice. I think it would be fantastic to meet you in person :)

That would be interesting.

Don't do it, Krice! It's a trap! He just wants to kidnap you for your precious Finnish blood!

Please come to IRDC 2013, Krice.
I hate travelling. I've never went to any other country than Sweden and that was the time I lived there.

For those to lazy to click through to RGRD.
It's in Poznan in Poland and the doodle for the dates is here: http://www.doodle.com/apvu26yzp45cugp2
There's not more you need to know.

Travel there seems pretty easy by train or flight.
-
Date has been decided as the weekend of 8th June! There is also now a wiki page:

Feel free to edit it with details of your travel plans and presentation details.

Is that decided enough to book flights, Darren?
I had my eye on Fri morn, Sun afternoon £170 from LHR.

I believe so. I've not booked anything yet, but will soon be choosing flights and hotel. I'll likely be going through Heathrow too. Which airline are you looking at?
-
Looking in more detail Luton or Stansted is preferable as they go direct to Poznan. Having to make flight stops is always a fuss I like to avoid.
There's a whole load of hotels that are good options. I think I'll likely go with Ikar.
-
Actually I have once flown to UK (Stansted IIRC) from Poznań instead of Warsaw, because the flight was cheaper (and I wanted to see Poznań anyway, I like to have stops in interesting cities).
-
Man I really want to go to this one.
-
UK based people:
08:10 LTN – 11:10 POZ 7th June
16:00 POZ – 17:10 STN 9th June
Ryan Air is just over £100 and looks like a good deal.
-
I was thinking of doing Thursday evening to Monday noonish, get some time for tourism. Hotels are cheap enough over there. Ikar hotel seems quite good.
-
Okay, I've booked:
From London-Stansted (STN) to Poznań (POZ)
Fri, 07Jun13 Flight FR2336 Depart STN at 12:20 and arrive POZ at 15:25
From Poznań (POZ) to London-Stansted (STN)
Mon, 10Jun13 Flight FR2337 Depart POZ at 16:00 and arrive STN at 17:10
Staying at the Ikar Hotel for 3 nights.

Well, I've acquired my ticket, and now I'm looking into flights! Going to give a talk about generating artwork and graphics like landscapes, flags, heraldry, designs, etc, and the challenge/benefits of adding that kind of thing to ASCII/ANSI RLs. As I live up in the north of the UK (York) I'm reluctant to fly from London, but I'll see what other options exist for travelling from a more northerly airport (I went to Den Haag for a conference recently from Teesside, so maybe I can get a similar option going for this trip). Ikar sounds good, though - really looking forward to meeting people :)

Cool - would be nice to meet you and see some examples of your URR work.
Going to Berlin and getting a train from there might be your best bet, in terms of both ease and price. Also Berlin is cool to visit if you want to extend your trip.

Likewise on the meeting - and thanks for the suggestion. Will be booking tickets in the next week or so, though Berlin sounds like a good plan to me. I've noticed a couple of videos from the 2012 IRDC on youtube - are there any plans to film the talks this time?
-
I'm not sure. I'm still sitting on the unedited videos from last year... Apparently others have many of the unreleased vids from previous years too. Who'da thought roguelike devs would be crap with video editing...?

Tsk... I have a basic camera which can do video, but I'm sure somebody would have something more advanced. Also: are there set times yet for when we're starting/finishing on the 7th/9th? I'm checking out flights, but reluctant to book until I know I'm not going to be late for the start, or miss the end!
-
Well the 7th will just be an evening meet, I imagine, and the 7th/9th will be 10-6 style of days with evening activities for those around/interested too. This is just based on previous years...
