It is nearly upon us! Less than 2 weeks away! Triple exclamation points!!! ALL CAPS!!!
What are you looking to put out? Nothing? Shame. Something? YAWESOME!!!
I'm looking to put out a follow up to the critically panned GUNFIST from 7DRL 2010. It's an arcade shooter (Think Berzerk) with roguelike levels. Currently it's in the nonexistent phase of coding.
GUNFIST: GAIDEN is the title [All caps. That's right. It's that awesome.]
So what are you putting out? Hype that shit!!! <---triple exclamation points.
-
LEFT FIELD HOTEL!!! Hopefully it doesn't come out a complete failure!
-
All sorts of good things coming from all sorts of folks this year---both already on the list at the Roguebasin page and otherwise.
The total surprises out from nowhere tend to be among my favorite occurrences.
-
So what are you putting out?
NPC. But it's going to take at least 6 months before first release.
-
Oh yeah! Future ARRP would be real feast for roguelike fans!
-
I think ARRP actually slows down releases, because developers stress about deadline and then just give up entirely and eat donuts.
-
Krice. Full of positivity, as always.
-
Also full of donuts.
-
HYPE IT UP!!!

I am here
-
Get the humanoid
-
Just a few more robots I cooked up. Still working on movement. Probably wont' make the AARP, but I can try.

Less than 5 days left, everyone!

I have been working on the user interface and trying to get proper inventory (picking up, dropping, wielding weapons and drinking potions) finished for the ARRP. Picking up and dropping is already working and basics of the UI are in place. The whole thing has to work with both mouse and keyboard and in a way that xPadder can be used to play game (still haven't looked into how to integrate joypad support).

I've been improving the engine stuff mostly. Expect bugfixes, better performance and balancing. Lately I've gotten lazy and haven't done as much as I used to. I hope I'll manage to implement full mouse support by the ARRP.

Assuming real-time roguelikelikes are allowed, I will be doing an ARRP release of lanarts: http://adam-dev-blog.blogspot.com (http://adam-dev-blog.blogspot.com)
Granted I already released today, but I can figure out something to add for a weekend release.
-
Roguelike-likes are totally in :)
-
Definitely, and you'd not be the only one either as Triangle Wizard is also in the announced runnings and perhaps others that slip the mind----more the merrier for the grand spectacle of it all. 8)
-
Yeah, let's just pretty much say IT HAS BEGUN. I'll label things more directly on time as such in the post titles and all...but yeah... ;)
-
I will be doing an ARRP for a BileBio update (http://github.com/jabb/BileBio). I'll be working on map generation, reworking abilities, and overall balancing and making it more fun/engaging.
-
I'll release new versions of Mutant Aliens! (http://roguebasin.com/index.php/Mutant_Aliens!) and Encircled (http://roguebasin.com/index.php/Encircled). Hoping to get tutorials in both, and variant playmodes in Encircled. MA already has several enhancements since update 3 (like highlighted LoS and critical hits), and I'm hoping to add a few more (maybe even some new scraps of plot).
-
I'll probably release Left Field Hotel tomorrow. Seems like everyone's gonna release then as well.
-
GUNFIST: GAIDEN is far from ready. I'm having trouble with diagonal movement bugs. Frustrated enough I'm going to have to rewrite the entire movement engine, that or just go with 4 way movement for the time being.
We'll see what I can get done this evening.
-
The new release of Angband (http://rephial.org) was well timed: http://angband.oook.cz/forum/showthread.php?p=72744#post72744
-
Yeah man that one is huge.
-
Is there, or will there be like a compilation thread of ARRP releases?
-
Probably, or at the very least the ARRP 2012 Roguebasin page will get fully populated with all that goes down between roughly this past Friday onto roughly this coming Monday.
-
Anyone interested in taking part in a ARRP episode of Roguelike Radio on Tuesday evening?
