So I see a post, "They who are to busy" or something on the General board and think I have something to add to this discussion. But when I hit reply I'm told, "This post is dead. Are you sure you want to revive it?" or something. Really? Wow.\
Don't get me wrong, I'm registered on my share of slow boards and I hate the boards that move so fast it's a full time job to keep up with them. But I thought this board would be a bit more towards the middle. I mean, you just had an international conference (http://www.roguetemple.com/2008/09/29/berlin-international-roguelike-development-conference-2008/). (By the way, does BIRDC mean anything in any language? Bird-C to me, sounds like some flighty programming language, nothing to do with roguelikes.)

TOO... BUSY...
;D

You are right it does seem a little slow.

Way to revive an old topic ;)
Anyway, I believe a lot of the discussion takes place around the newsgroup, not in this forum, unfortunately.
I find forums to be much nicer, and since I don't have a lot of time, I prefer keeping up to date here instead of on the newsgroup :)

I think more people should post more often on the forums. But all activity seems to take place on the rgrd newsgroup.
-
I never bother with the newsgroups as much as here on account of the massive waves of adspam that clutter rgrd making it tedious to keep up with anything. Seriously, if the Announce section can be moderated, why not Dev and Misc...or at least Dev where the problem tends to be worse?

Do you read rgrd on Google? I've heard the spam is much less if you use a dedicated usenet reader.
Of course I just use Google too, it's so much more convenient.

Yep, Google's all I know---surely many more in the same boat as us two.

This made me think of another thread in a different newsgroup about this problem -- check this out for a little help with the spam:
