Title: Flash player failure
Post by: Krice on June 22, 2012, 01:47:57 PM
Flash player failed to install, Windows asked if the install was ok anyway. Yes, I don't have time for this shit... as a result the desktop icons don't stay in their places anymore, they always reset to defaul left side on each restart. Damn you Adobe.

It got worse. I noticed firewall is turned off and I couldn't turn it on (error message). When I tried checking viruses with Security Essential it found something, but now the computer is restarting again all the time. It's some kind of virus, I've heard of it. In worst case there is a security hole in the new Flash player and zillions of Windows computers are getting infected. I'm writing this with my atom laptop which doesn't have the new flash player (I think automatic updates are off).

Wow, I hope you can get it fixed :(  Maybe now's the time to switch to Linux or Mac?

I think I was lucky, because I had a restore point just before the virus hit and for some strange reason the virus didn't shut down the computer this one time so I was able to use the restore point. I think the virus is gone for now, I checked with TDSSKiller and actually Essential had found it also, but was unable to remove it I guess. It was ZAccess trojan.

It's annoying to know that a virus can hit suddenly without warning. I never download pirate software or run any suspicious software, so it's still a mystery where this trojan came from. Maybe it was just some kind of security hole.

That's great! It's a good thing you had a back-up.
