Title: Looking for a specific roguelike...
Post by: Totentanz on September 04, 2008, 02:07:57 AM
First of all, hi to everyone :]

Second, I'm looking for a game that was my first contact with roguelikes ever, I got it from download.com around year 2000(ish), and I'm 99% positive that it was called "Hero".

I can't find it anywhere and it would mean so much to me to play it again :)

I think I have it in my roguelike collection at home... did it have kind of EGA graphics? I think there was also a tech demo for Hero 2.

IIRC there are two roguelikes named HERO, one of them is a simple coffeebreakish VGA game, the other is an overhead view, much more tactical EGA game, here goes one of them (won't work in Vista) (WHAT? FULL SCREEN MODE NOT SUPPORTED? WTF!)

Yes, thats the one!  :D

I can't thank you enough :D

edit: I just looked at the Brad Millers' site (the creator of hero), using wayback machine, and it seem he had plan for Hero 2 and also had a demo of it on the site. I tried to email him but the email address that was on site is no longer in use, so I don't think I can reach him and ask him about it :)
