Title: Prototype of a 3D roguelike
Post by: Gael on September 03, 2008, 11:00:28 PM
Hello,

I've created the basics of a 3D roguelike called "The Hole". It is playable (you can walk in the level using the keyboard and the mouse).

I'd like to create such a game, I mean to finish it, but it is not something you can do alone.

Anyway, if you want to discuss on what a 3D roguelike must and must not be,
please post your ideas...

If you want to test the prototypes, here there are

http://bb.waw.cx/Hole/exe/The_Hole_(v0.2).rar    [ 8654 Kb ]

Enjoy,

A 3d roguelike should have some sort of isometric point-of-view... like egoboo

I can see how a first person one could work though, there's already a couple!

Site brings up a "We died" page though...   :(

3D space certainly has lot of room for new ideas what comes to dungeon generation, but usually you just see flat 2D style dungeons with 3D interface. That's not very creative. What I really would like to see is something like Ultima Underworld with random dungeon generation.
