Post by: Pueo on February 06, 2012, 07:44:38 PM
What are some rogue likes with sound?  I want to have some examples to work with.

Well, there are DoomRL and DemonHunt, as well as ToME4. These are the ones I can think of right now, there are probably more.

I remember I found a pretty good soundpack for nethack a while ago. Can't remember where though. I know there is also one for crawl, although not that good.

Donnie Russel's port of Rogue, Classic Rogue, also has sound added.

Roguelikes known to me where sounds are important: above mentioned DoomRL, and Jacobi Matrix which uses sound as a real time constraint.

Other than that, there are many (often more or less unofficial) mods which add sounds to roguelikes based on messages. I think there are mods for ADOM and NetHack, IVAN3D adds sound to IVAN, and NotEye adds (rather low quality) sounds to Hydra Slayer and Brogue (and can do more).
