Title: Castlevaniarl tiles
Post by: ido on March 14, 2008, 02:13:21 PM
Are the tiles used in castlevaniarl original work? Are they public domain? Can they be reused in other games?

Yep, they are original work, as for their license, I think we would have to ask Mr. Barrett. I  will do so...

Are you thinking on using them for a project?

I'm compiling a list of free tile sets.

Who is Barrett? A graphic designer you hired? Or was it a volunteer job, like Gervais' tiles?

IIRC he was a graphic designer that wanted to do some work for RL devs.   He did some tiles for Warlock's Mountain but they never really saw the light of day.  One day I might ressurect that project.

/wave.

I'm a game developer by day who likes Roguelikes and thought it would be fun to make some tiles. I love doing pixel work.

I don't think I realized at the time how much work it would be :) I think Slash still needs a bunch of tiles from me.

Anyway, yeah they are free to use if Slash wants them to be.

I liked your work - I would be willing to pay you to do some similar work for me.
