Title: IRLDb Suggestions

The database is very very funky, but I think a few tweaks would be nice.  Primarily:

1. If updated date field is blank then pull through released date instead.

2. Show search criteria/customisation in the url instead of masking the home link.  This would let one link to a specific search externally.

3. Have quick links at the top to "All Roguelikes", "All 7DRLs", maybe some others.

The home link is not masked (IRLDb does all the searching and filtering on user's computer, so no URL changing, also that's why it is so fast:) ) But I agree that these would be useful features. Hopefully I'll add them when I have time.

Indeed, you can even download the IRLDB and run it locally :)

Finally IRLDb is updated, with the following changes based on Darren's post, and also one of my own:

• It is now possible to generate permanent links to your search results. For example,
  • all 7DRLs (http://roguetemple.com/irldb/index.php?i=4c5281&s=6.6.)
  • roguelikes with recent feedback (http://roguetemple.com/irldb/index.php?i=44d3ff&s=24.24.) (please submit more feedback :) )
  • most popular roguelikes (http://roguetemple.com/irldb/index.php?i=4c53b9&s=21.22.) (according to number of ratings, then rating average)
  • roguelikes with RL in name (http://roguetemple.com/irldb/index.php?i=4c53b8&nam=RL)

• If one of the two fields (updated/released) is blank, just copy the other one. (In some cases "Released" contains a date and "Updated" contains a version number, IRLDb won't copy in this case, but I think this should be fixed manually.)
• It is now possible to search not only for specific text, but also using regular expressions. For example this search (http://roguetemple.com/irldb/index.php?i=5c50b9&s=5.5.&thm=%28S|s%29ci|%28S|s%29tar|%28R|r%29obot|%28F|f%29utur|%28C|c%29yber|%28P|p%29ost) finds many different types of futuristic roguelikes (including sci-fi, cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic, etc.).

I'll try to find some popularity formula-- That way we won't have to wait until ROTY 2011 to have a fandom war.

So, I've updated all my ratings and stuff  :)
