So, everybody is jumping and making their 7DRL prior to the challenge, which is great, in no year before we had seen this hapening...
but I wonder, how many challengers will jump in this year, how many projects will be finished?
My bets go for 25 challengers, 15 finished.... what do you think?
-
I'll have to wait until the 7DRL proper starts as my compiler fell over and went BOOM! mere hours after I announced that I would attempt my first 7DRL. Perhaps it was telling me to wait for the actual start date and to learn a little patience.
Is it against the rules to know what you're going to do for your 7DRL down to the smallest detail before the start date? (As much as that can be planned before the bugs destroy your plan.)

Id love to do one this year but time is really non-existant. I'd get about 2 hours a week to work on in it so there is no way I could pull one off... Same old story for me. Id rather spend my time on working on other projects I have that are ongoing rather than new projects :)
I would think about 20 challengers.

@O: Fate sometime manifests in the oddest of ways...
I think doing what you say is needed, specially if you dont have 168 hours to work in your 7DRL, (I will have 20 hours at most this year)
Also, place your bets for challengers/finishers :P
@stu: how many finished?
-
12 finished I guess

Is it OK to use Roguetemple instead of the newsgroup for 7DRL announcement? I am not planning to do a 7DRL myself (although these plans may change), but I think it makes sense.

I sure hope not...for me, the 168 hours is reserved solely for coding.

Dunno... you can post both there and over rgrd. Official rules say you must post on rgrd, but if you dont have access, I think posting here is ok.
We will sure discuss each one of this years 7DRL here over the course of the next weeks :)

My guess is 10 finished :)
I'm not entering - I just spent 3 months full time coding a Roguelike and am a bit roguelike'd out at the moment. I would be very keen for next year however.

We have 5(?) finished 7drl's already.
My bet is another 5 will finish during the challenge itself, putting us at a respectable 10 new games :)

You guys make me feel overoptimistic :P

Think I'm going to review those 7DRLs.

12 finished and I picked 10! close. Joshua Smith wins with 10 a correct score :)

The latest stat at http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php?title=7DRL_Contest_2008 shows 24 challengers and 10 winners at the date.
I was pretty close with my 25 challengers. Went overboard with the sucess rate of 15 though :P
