You are invited to join Roguetemple staff. Content Temple of the Roguelike could very much use is:
- Playthrough videos
There are many worthwhile roguelike games that could use some attention. A gameplay video (five to ten minutes) can tell much more about a title than a review. You may also add it to Roguetemple youtube channel. PM Getter77 on how to do this. I have no idea.
- Game reviews
To write a thorough review with well chosen screenshots is not easy task. The more valuable these are! Currently we are in progress of reviewing roguelikes released during ARRP 2010 but any review is welcome.
- Roguelike news
Some events happen buried deep in certain game mailing lists but could use more attention. For example Frozen Depths pre-release when Glowie asked for testing is valid topic to elaborate on and notify wider community. Other are fairly known but shout out is very beneficial for them. Example is recent Ascii Dreams roguelike of the year poll.
- Articles
Quite recently it popped up that people rarely know several roguelikes are party based. An article summarizing how party adventuring looks in roguelike genre could be pretty interesting. Also articles detailing evolution of some mechanics (like pits and boulders for example) over development span of several games.
Anything else you think is worthy of Roguetemple probably will be accepted too. Please send your first piece of work to Slash. His email address can be found here (http://santiagoz.com/).

Alternatively, PM Slash as there was some uncanny timing bits back at the start of that and he's the one moreso in the loop. :P

I could probably do a fairly decent review of ToME4. Seems appropriate considering it's recent victory in the Roguelike of the Year poll. Could also do a gameplay video for it (have done several already actually, but they were not intended for review pruposes and contain a lot of swearing...)
-
Great! mail me once you have it and i'll add you as editor
-
Darren, can you drop us a link to these videos? I promise to use headphones watching them. No one will be harmed. :)
-
I have a lot of ADOM and ToME vids on http://www.viddler.com/explore/darrenjohngrey/ . The ADOM ones are generally from group games we had on the ADOM forums. Spoilers and swearing abound :-)

Here, of course, is a list of the ARRP games for 2010: http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php?title=2010_ARRP
I might try to write a review of "something", if I find the time.
As always,
Minotauros

Drop me a note if you select something from this list, will you? It would be a shame if both of us picked the same game. Lets make sure efforts of one of us are not going to be wasted. By the way my next target is Toby the Trapper.

Would someone mind sending me the Youtube login to upload to the Rogue Temple channel?
-
Bleh, I got impatient and posted my article without a video.
I'll do another video of ToME when the new tiles get implemented.
-
I just sent you the credentials
Thanks for the review!

Awesome work with the review! I was under the impression ToME was just 'nother *band but you successfully dispelled that. Must try sometime soon.
-
Agreed. You did a great job. Plus, I just think that the note you've struck is perfect from the perspective of buzz generation. You note a couple of points of contention without really dwelling on the negative... that's important for the fringe market of roguelikes.
Speaking of which, I would like to do a Cataclysm review... I don't think I have the ability (temerity?) to really become a member of the contributing staff, but I could certainly do a one-off, and it's a marvelous up and coming effort. Is that something that would have a place here?
-
Sure Jim. One-off contribution is welcome. After you drop here the review your posting privileges will stay enabling you to come back some time later and drop another piece of work.
In fact I wrote four reviews when I joined staff and the next was posted thirteen months later.

Great job!
