Do someone plays this sci-fi roguelike?
I would like to try it but I keep receiving this error, no matter how I change the resolution:
-
It is one of my favorite RL games ever! I love toying with genetic machine splicing my DNA with those of alien creatures slowly turning myself into superior yet bizarre creature ...
About the error. I presume you must be running some kind of windows because this problem would not appear. Solution depends what version exactly. In early versions (pre-XP?) opening console and typingmode con lines=50
would do the trick. In newer windozes you had to enter properties somehow and change display to 50 lines. AFAIK in win7 console has 50 lines by default.

Thank you Ancient!
Yes, I run WinXP SP3.
Sorry but I don't understand: how do I open console and type those commands?
-
I don't have XP anymore. But as far as I can recall, try hitting the windows key and r to popup the run command. Then just type "cmd" and hit enter to launch the console. There's a ton other ways to do so (including an entry in the startmenu somewhere) but this one should definitely work.
There you can just right click the Icon (in the title bar) and select properties (or options). This is from memory so there's a slight chance i'm off. Especially since I never had an english XP.
Anyways, Xenocide is a great game. It's a pity it never was finished but even with that which is there, it's a lot of fun. There were some rumors about it being restarted but those seem to have been just that: Rumors.

Thank you AmnEn, but doesn't work for me. The command line is correctly received, but the lines keeps being 29 instead of 50, I don't know why.
-
Maybe try hitting "alt+enter" when console has focus before entering the command? It should go full screen and allow you to manipulate lines.
-
Alt+enter doesn't work with me for Xenocide.. :*-(
-
Guys, does this game has got ending (can be beaten) ?
-
No, it does not have a formal ending. If you entered the bunker consider yourself a winner.
-
Is there a working download link anywhere? I like the DNA splicing idea...
-
I uploaded Xenocide on Dropbox and I will try to keep this file.

Nice one, thanks...I even emailed the dev earlier.
Think it`s time for my Archive Hoarder Mode to activate. The danger these games will just vanish forever is quite real and rather scary. That reddit torrent is a good attempt but we need something more ruthlessly scientific, in a TOSEC vein.
-
My pleasure :)
Raddit torrent has one annoying disadvantage, which causes some inconveniences.
That torrent is archive. So when I have ~15GB roguelikes on my HDD, I have to download next 7GB just for dozen of games which I do not have. Moreover, the amount of needed space is the double - after all, you have to unpack the archive.
I think would be better if such torrents would be just folders - in this case is possible to choose 'parts of content' to download.
But ok, I know, too long digression ;)
Generally I agree with you, akeley. So, I decided to start new topic to arrangements here. (http://forums.roguetemple.com/index.php?topic=4775.0)

When I play this game there is just no messages! How can I fix this?
-
I didn't encounter this problem. Maybe check the dependencies in sources?
-
No messages sounds like console size issue. Check if you have fifty lines of display. If not - this is the problem.

Sfx version, thanks to the wonder of the archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/20070804005313/http://xeno.chaosforge.org/files/xeno-win-snd-2007-03-28.zip (https://web.archive.org/web/20070804005313/http://xeno.chaosforge.org/files/xeno-win-snd-2007-03-28.zip)

Web archive sometimes lose files (or I have bad luck?), so I uploaded this version on my dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/s/kg712sn6hmr6ho6/xeno-win-snd-2007-03-28.zip?dl=0)
