Title: The best non-traditional roguelikes?
Post by: Chris Nestaamo on December 08, 2007, 05:44:27 AM
I've gotten a bit tired of the traditional Tolkien-esque fantasy, so what are some good roguelikes of other genres? Not excluding fantasy in general, but at least having a really unique setting.

I have pretty much nothing to contribute, sadly. It seems like all the ones I've seen have been either shareware, defunct, or just plain bad (in my opinion).

Gearhead is a pretty good sci-fi roguelike.

ToME! Oh, wait... ;D

Take a look at WarpRogue, it's in development but it's pretty nice. Also, IVAN is different in quite some aspects, and is one of the best roguelikes, in my opinion. I can also vouch for GearHead!

Huh, WarpRogue? I'd tried it before, and despite it being set in the WH40k universe, it didn't really catch my attention all that much. I'll try Gearhead again, though.
