After a long and terrible time offline, #rln on irc.esper.net is back online! I was away from IRC for some time for personal reasons, but since I'm back now, the channel is open again if anyone wants to join. It's a fairly low volume chatroom, so it might be totally inactive when you log on. But feel free to log on anytime!

Just join #rgrd on quakenet - right now there are 13 of us (+3 bots) on it vs. 2 (+1 bot) on #rln.

A IRC client is not really necessary, a linemode internet client (such as netcat) will also work. I use netcat to connect to IRC.

If you have never used IRC before, here is a list of some the most useful commands in IRC (command names are not case sensitive):
  • USER allows you to login and identify
  • NICK tells the nickname you want to use (required for login, you might be able to change it later also)
  • JOIN join a channel
  • PRIVMSG send a message to a channel or to a user
  • PART unjoin a channel
  • QUIT disconnect from IRC
  • NAMES lists logged in users (also displayed when you join a channel)
  • PONG respond to a PING message (if you are not using a IRC client that does this automatically)
Now you can learn how to use IRC!

That's pretty hardcore :)

More on topic, good to know that there is such IRC channel. Some day I'll have time to drop by.

I tried to connect to quakenet with the webclient but it only opens the commands/server window and it doesn't open the chat channel? Although I can see people talking from the channel I cannot type messages it only accept commands?

Edit: Wait, works now, but maybe you have to log in with a user to have the channel tab open?
