Star Souls game

Star Souls is a single-player roguelike-like tactical sci-fi game. Star Souls will target the PC/Mac/Linux.


The player controls several fleet spaceships. The task is to overcome the route from several randomly generated sectors of the galaxy with many star systems.


The player is invited to explore unknown worlds, engage in battles with other spaceships, perform tasks and improve the fleet. Death in the game is irreversible, you cannot return the destroyed ships.

GAMEPLAY

Exploration: Travel through the dying galaxy, where you can handle emerging enemy threats, search the salvation for all the intelligent races and perform different missions.


Ship Management: The game offers 30+ spaceships of playing races, many non-playing enemy ships, over 30 kinds of weapons. You can customize and upgrade your spaceships as well as install various modules on them.


Combat: Battles occur in real time with a tactical pause while the player should redistribute energy between the on-board systems and watch the serviceability of the fleet spaceships, avoid meteorites and hazardous fields, hide in nebulae and make way through trash.


Story Events: The game produces story events that lead to combat, bonuses/negatives, and many number of fantastic in-game scenarios. You can choose one of three playable races. At the same the quests will be slightly different that will look at the situation from different perspectives.

- Original story and univerce. The outcome will vary depend on the alien race you play for.
- Roguelike elements and fairly high difficultly ensure a challenging adventure.

My name is Dmitriy, I’a an artist in Star Souls devteam :D
So, I just want to ask you write to us, do like Star Souls or not, what can be improved? any suggestions...)))
The game is about half ready. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and we'll improve many thing.

What are these roguelike elements? Just to remind, randomness itself is not a roguelike element. Many games can have randomness without being roguelikes at all.

Star Souls run the demo v.2.
It is greatly improved:
- It have spaceships upgrades. You can upgrade main and support ships using “Credits”.
- All energy levels affect the battle (just hover the cursor to learn more about each main ship system). You’ll get the system effect only if you add energy to it.
- Progress is saved during the battle. If you’ll quit the game, then click “continue”, you get the moment of the battle from which you left.
- On battle maps you can find some nebula, in some you can hide, some are dangerous for spaceships.
NB: Please, don’t jump to the second sector of the galaxy (only first sector is available).

So it's not a roguelike. But I guess it's ok. Don't worry about it.
