Runelock, a fantasy roguelike (WIP)
« on: May 21, 2014, 11:20:04 PM »
Hi guys! First post here, but i'm reading that forum for a couple of months.
This is my current Work in progress:

Download=====>http://www.naztail.com/wip/Runelock_wip.zip

Devlog: http://www.naztail.com/Runelock_wip/Devlog_runelock.txt
My website:http://www.naztail.com/index.html
Twitter:https://twitter.com/Naztail
Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/naztail
Indiedb:http://www.indiedb.com/games/runelock
=======================================
Here is the seven major factors that drive my game:

-Random environment generation:
Every level (for now they are call
'Plane'.) is different from the previous one.

-Turn-based action:
You take  turn, enemies take their. You got action points that set how many actions you can perform.

-Permadeath:
Oh yeah. No second chance...

-Grid-based:

Everything fits on the grid!

-Exploration and discovery:
Everything is dark. Light the lamps, find the map and explore every corner.

-Hack'n'slash:
From the little crows to the evil lord, pierce through enemy forces using all your equipements.

-Tactical challenge:
Fight through doors, throw arrows, run away, charm monsters, there is many way to win.

If you found ANY issues please send me a mail: admin@naztail.com or pm me. Go to AppData\Local\Runelock, there a a file named: lastseed.txt. This is the last seed used to generate your plane(level). I need it to recreate the issue.

Short list of planned features:
-3 heroes
-3 differents quest
-Unique skills for each hero
-Random Puzzles (thats an imporant features to me)
-Monsters, that look and act different from each others
-Challenging bosses
-Many endings
-and more...

I'll update regulary. I wanted to post that Wip demo to start getting feedback.(And add pression...)

Thank you for playing.

*Sprites use on this game are made by Oryx from: http://oryxdesignlab.com/

Welcome, and congrats on seemingly being well on your way to getting a good running start out from the line.   8)

Where is this current WIP demo at as far as your stated goals for planned features?

Main engine is 80% done. I need to add a skill tree.
Add more objects and balance everything.
Then balance again, and again.I never thought that balancing a game was so hard!
Once done, I'll build up the first boss.(I want unique AI for bosses. I'm aiming something...awesome!)
Then create a decent and attractive intro/main menu.
I will then have a short playable game. 1 character, from plane 1 to 5. (plane is like level or depth).
After that, depending of my mood: extra characters and more planes. (20-25 planes are planned.)
Phew, thats a lot of work!

Time for BETA!

Hi everybody, happy new year!
Runelock is officially in BETA.

What it means:
That current version will be the official DEMO.
You'll be able to play from plane 1 to 9.
The next weeks/month I will add more features but will not add more plane to play.
Second boss will be on the final version.
I get a lot of downloads in 2014 and I hope I'll get more for 2015.
I hope I'll get more and more feedback too. Reply here of send me an email: admin@naztail.com
Look at the devlog on the first post to see what's new.

Hi again!
I wanted to tell that the current version of Runelock is still Beta...Prototype...
Ok that sounds weird! While trying to update it and add more contents, I realize that I badly coded the 'core system'. I learned a lot in the past months and choose to rewrite Runelock from the start. But, I've got a lot of script that I will simply/copy paste, like  my Pathfinding Algorithm. For now, I did 2 months of work in only 2 weeks. It's a lot of time saving!

Plus:
The inventory system, the skills and combat will be 'revised'. I'll call the next update: The less-RPG update. I want a less complex system. Less points and less skills. I want to make every +1 important. I wanted a special game and a special game it will be. As it is, there's too much RPG elements. I'll post further information and update when Runelock will be at an interesting state.
